網際網路工程任務組(Internet Engineering Task Force,IETF) 成立於1986年,主要任務為負責網路技術規範的研究和標準的制定。其屬於開放性組織,任何人都可參與,參加對象多以個人為主而非代表公司或團體。
目前IETF的工作任務共分7大領域,每一個領域由2位ADs(Area Directors)帶領,各領域下依主題成立多個工作組(Working Groups,WGs)進行網路架構及協議規範制定工作,目前持續運作的工作組合計共有123個,工作組屬暫時性組織,當工作任務告一段落即結束,若有新議題提出就可能組織新的工作組進行討論。以下就IETF 2021年產出RFC之所屬工作組進行統計分析:
