Description:
1. In accordance with the resolutions of the 109th TWNIC Domain Name Committee Meeting on May 24th, 2019
2. Grandfathering Period: from 14:00, January 7th, 2020 (Taipei Time) to 23:59, February 10th, 2020 (Taipei Time)
3. Eligibility Requirements
(1) Governmental Agency: The governmental agencies (or organizations) in the priority registration list.
(2) Educational Institute: Schools which are registered in accordance with Taiwan’s law in the priority registration list .
(3) Registrants of the Existing ASCII.tw Domain Name:
– The registrants of the existing ASCII.tw Domain Name (e.g. twnic.tw) will have the priority to register same ASCII domain name under .台灣(.xn--kpry57d) domain space (e.g. twnic.台灣).
– In accordance with the result of TWNIC WHOIS query, the ASCII.tw should be registered before February 10th, 2020 (Taipei Time). When registering same ASCII domain name under .台灣(.xn--kpry57d), the ASCII.tw should not have the serverHold status or in the domain dispute resolution process.
– If the existing ASCII.tw domain name is also listed in the Governmental Agency’s or Educational Institute’s priority registration list, the Governmental Agency or Educational Institute has the priority to register such domain name.
4. Registration during Grandfathering period
(1) Governmental Agency: The domains in the priority registration list will be reserved to the governmental agencies (or organizations).
(2) Educational Institute: The domains in the priority registration list will be reserved to schools which are registered in accordance with Taiwan’s law.
(3) Registrants of the Existing ASCII.tw Domain Name: Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements may apply for same ASCII domain name under .台灣(.xn--kpry57d) at the registrar where the Existing ASCII.tw Domain Name is currently managed.
5. Fee
(1) The registration during Grandfathering period: NT 800 per year. The payment method is subject to each registrar.
(2) After registration, the applicant should complete the payment before 23:59, February 10th, 2020 (Taipei Time). If the applicants fail to complete the payment within the schedule, the registered domain name will be released for general registration.
(3) Before completion of the payment, the ownership change of the existing ASCII.tw domain name will be prohibited. If the ownership change of the existing ASCII.tw domain name is occurred, the applicant will be disqualified.
(4) After completion of the payment, the registry may have the right to cancel the application if it does not meet the eligibility requirements.
6. General registration: The general registration will start from 14:00, February 13th, 2020 (Taipei Time).
7. If there is any change in the relevant rules, TWNIC’s latest announcement shall prevail. TWNIC reserves the right to interpret and change all relevant rules.
